This week saw the first session of our Musical Theatre course for young people in Years 6-8, offered as part of our “CREATE Programme”.

The Musical Theatre course provides an opportunity for students to develop their skills in Musical Theatre and build their self-confidence, as well as gain experience in singing, dancing and acting. Over five weeks the group will be exploring some of the most exciting musicals around, as participants learn how to perform solo numbers, group ensemble numbers, audition practise and much more, including a chance to perform at the end of course show.

The first session focussed on the musical “Hairspray” with course leader, Pernilla Holland, leading the girls in a choreographed performance of “You Cant Stop the Beat”! Pernilla is an experienced actor and performer. Her credits include West End, BBC, National Theatre and Soho Theatre. She is also a member of the hit musical improv group Notflix.

We look forward to seeing how the girls develop and to watching them perform at the end of the course!

CREATE is a programme of creative workshops and masterclasses for talented young people wishing to work within theatre, media, film and television. They provide an opportunity to work with industry professionals and learn skills that will excite, inspire and help young people to find their creative voice.
