Events and Trips Pre-Prep

There was great excitement in Pre-Prep this week as six ducklings made their way into the world when they hatched from their eggs. The incubator has been in Pre-Prep for a number of weeks and the girls have been studying the development of the ducklings with great interest - candling the eggs on a regular basis to see how the birds have been growing inside their shells.

Now the ducklings have hatched the girls have spent time caring for them and observing what happens as they get used to their surroundings and each other.

Having the duck eggs and hatching them out has been a hugely beneficial experience for the girls, enabling them to learn first-hand about how ducklings develop and about the various stages of their life cycle. It has been a fully cross-curricular experience linking Science, Numeracy, Literacy and Art, as the girls have used the ducklings for inspiration in a variety of areas.
