Pipers Corner is celebrating record results at GCSE today with a significant increase in top grades in a broad range of subjects.

In over 12 subjects at least half of all results were at the top A*/A grades including Geography (in which 86% of candidates achieved A*/A grades), as well as History, Drama, Textiles, Food Technology, ICT, German, Spanish, Physical Education, Religious Studies and Design Technology (Resistant Materials). In Mathematics iGCSE over a third of girls attained A* or A grades.

The new grading system in English Literature and English Language provided some very pleasing results as well. Almost half of all students achieved top grades 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A) in English Literature, with a quarter of girls achieving the highest grades of 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A) in English Language.

Among the top achievers who will be returning to take up Sixth Form Scholarships at Pipers next term (Drama, Academic, Art, Performing Arts and PE respectively) are Chloe B, Lucie B, Bryony G, Zara M and Magdalena R who amassed 37 A/A* grades between them.

Headmistress, Mrs Helen Ness-Gifford said, “We are delighted with today’s record results at GCSE. In contrast to the national dip in results, it is especially pleasing that so many subjects have achieved high proportions of the very top grades - a true testament to the dedication and effort put in by both the girls and their teachers over the course of the last two years. I look forward to sharing in the girls’ continued success as they move forward into our Sixth Form to embark on their chosen A Level courses.”
