Whole School Pre-Prep and Prep

Year 1 girls have been learning all about weather conditions and weather recording instruments this week, as they started to think about how they could go about making their very own weather station.

The girls began by considering the different kinds of weather we get here in the UK – rain, sun, snow and wind. They then went on to explore some more extreme weather events including floods, hurricanes, tornados and droughts.

They had great fun using lolly sticks and tissue paper to make their own weather instrument to help them to identify the direction of the wind. Using compasses it meant they could see from which direction the wind was coming and understand whether this affects whether the wind is colder or warmer.

We look forward to hearing more about their weather experiments as the term continues.
