Whole School Pre-Prep and Prep

After an extremely early start our Year 11 historians landed in Berlin ready for a full day of exploration.

Visits included the Reichstag, a number of memorials including the highly debated Holocaust Memorial and then onto the site of the Fuhrer's bunker. Day two began with a visit to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, a thought-provoking time for all the girls. Following this we lifted spirits with a tour of the highly impressive Olympic Stadium, built for the 1936 Nazi Olympics. The day culminated with an extraordinarily competitive hour of bowling!

On the final day the girls were privileged enough to take in a private viewing of the DDR Museum. Other highlights included a trip to the Stasi prison which taught the students about the interrogation cells and the methods used by the Stasi. We could not leave before taking in a stretch of the Berlin Wall where we heard about the innovative methods of escape, before heading home to reflect on many highly emotive experiences and incredible learnings.
