Whole School Pre-Prep

Pre-Prep have had a wonderful week with a trip to ‘Windsor Castle’ this week. They enjoyed visiting ‘The State Apartments’ and having the opportunity to follow both the Ceremonial Route and the Historic Route.

The girls were amazed to see the chandeliers and gilding in the Grand Reception Room and thoroughly enjoyed viewing the bridal gown and the evening dress that Princess Eugenie wore for her wedding. On the Historic route the girls admired the different rooms. They viewed the drawing rooms, the dressing room, the dining room and the bedroom. They also admired the works of art from the Royal Collection.

Following this, the girls explored Windsor Castle as a favourite home and working place of Britain’s two longest reigning monarchs: Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II, as part of our workshop ‘Whose royal home is this?’. They experienced how royalty and their servants lived in Victorian times compared to the present day and had the opportunity to dress up as maids, cooks and footmen as well as handling original Victorian artefacts, including some belonging to Queen Victoria herself!

The day was made even more special by seeing marching guards in the Quadrangle and visiting St George’s Chapel. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable day!
