Showing Entrepreneurial Spirit

Two teams of talented entrepreneurs from Pipers demonstrated that they have got what it takes to succeed in the world of business with a huge amount of success at the Young Enterprise Area Finals.

The aim of the Young Enterprise programme is to make the connection between school and the world of work, enabling young people to develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to succeed, building on eight key skills: Communication, Confidence, Financial Capability, Initiative, Organisation, Problem-solving, Teamwork and Resilience.

Team Bathe developed sustainable bathing products inspired by influential women, whilst Violet & Benji created environmentally friendly, tailored gifts and products for dogs. The hard work of both Pipers teams really paid off as their companies came away with a multitude of awards including being ranked 1^st and 2^nd overall from a group of 13 schools across the High Wycombe area. Pipers Corner was in fact the only school to make it through to the next round.

Reflecting on their success the girls commented “we are very proud of what we have achieved this evening and it has all taken a great deal of resilience, hard work and dedication. Tonight was a night when I’m sure both the teams felt very proud to be Pipers girls. The process has been an exceptional learning experience and has allowed the team to develop both business and team work skills, whilst teaching us valuable life skills. We will definitely be recommending to next year’s Lower Sixth that they participate in the programme.” 

Their success at the Area Finals means that they have qualified for the Regional Finals being hosted at Buckingham University on Thursday 23 May. We wish them every success and look forward to seeing how they get on!
