We were delighted to welcome representatives from The Amersham Rotary Club to Pipers this week to present prizes and certificates to girls who had been successful in this year’s Rotary Young Artist Competition.

The competition aims to support and encourage development of fine art skills and encourage young people to:

  • Experiment with creativity within fine art.
  • Use traditional or contemporary methods of fine art.
  • Show interpretation of their chosen topic.
  • Express their ideas through the medium of fine art.

The theme for 2016/17 was “Reflections” and participants could interpret the theme in as many and varied ways as the entrants’ imaginations allow.

In the Junior Category Year 6 pupil, Chloe D, was awarded 1st place out of over 100 entrants for her piece of work, with Isabel S (Year 5) coming in second place.

Also achieving second place was Daniella Z (Year 8) in the Intermediate age group.

Both Hannah W (Year 7) and Bo M (Year 6) were also selected as finalists in their age categories.

Head of Art, Mr Webber said, “I am delighted that the girls have been rewarded for their artistic endeavours in this competition. Each of their entries showed an individual take on the theme and they should all be very proud of their efforts.”
