Every year, The Tree Council’s Young Tree Champions run a ‘Story in Nature’ competition, in partnership with The Week Junior Science+Nature magazine, allowing young people to express their love of trees and nature through writing. Encouraging participants to share why nature is important to them through original poetry and prose. 

We were delighted that Lyra C, Year 7, decided to enter this year’s competition with her delightful poem “Goodbye to a Tree”. Lyra was shortlisted for her creative endeavours and we can’t wait to see what other inspirational poetry she produces, inspired by nature.
