Textiles Whole School

To mark a year of unprecedented times, the Textiles Department is offering students and staff with the opportunity to decorate a fabric hexagon which will then become part of a new hanging installation in the school.

Every member of the community will be supplied with a piece of fabric and marked up with a hexagon shape within which they are invited to work. They can decorate their hexagon with stitch, fabric or yarn with any sort of simple shape, symbol or pattern which has significance about the Year 2020 and/or lockdown . They can also be decorated with paints, fabric pens and sharpies for those who are not so confident with a needle. However, no glitter!

The base colours of fabrics given out will be a variety of rainbow colours so that the overall hanging will have a rainbow effect.

Fabrics will be collected in during the week commencing 11 January 2021 and Mrs Tebb, Head of Textiles, will then start putting the installation together.

Below is a video from Mrs Tebb explaining the project.
