This year, Earth Hour takes place between 2030 - 2130 hours on 25 March 2023.  Pipers Environmentalist-in-Residence and the HOPE committee are asking all the Pipers School community to take part in this year’s initiative and turn your lights off for one hour. "We all have a part to play in the world we create for future generations...those who come after us."

Since 2007, Earth Hour has been encouraging individuals from around the globe to switch off their lights to show symbolic support for the planet and to raise awareness of the environmental issues affecting it.  This is an opportunity for you to take this time to reflect on what nature means to you.

60 Earth have said of this year’s event “We are now at a tipping point with our climate and nature crises, putting at risk the fate of our one home and all our futures. We are on course to breach by 2030 the 1.5°C global temperature increase limit set by the Paris Climate Agreement…we must stay under the threshold to avoid irreversible damage to our planet".

By all our Pipers families turning off their lights for just 60 minutes, you will become part of a domino effect of impact that continues well beyond the hour that you switch off.  The HOPE committee are keen for everyone to take part - "If we all take a step in the right direction then together it will be a big step in creating a sustainable future."
