Pipers Alumnae - An Inspiration to Sixth Form Students.

Preparing for life beyond Pipers is an inevitable step for our Sixth Form Students, and one which we take great care and consideration in supporting them with.  As we head towards the Summer Term our students will begin considering further study at University, Degree Apprenticeships, or heading straight into their chosen career path and it’s our Head of Careers who plays a pivotal role in ensuring each student is aware of the options available to them, which route may suit them best and how to take that all important next step.

For those considering higher education at University, it’s usually around May that the 300+ campuses around the UK open their doors to prospective students who can get a feel for the institution itself and the courses they offer.  By now our students are familiar with UCAS and will have had reviewed prospectuses and discussed options with their families and friends.

To support this process, we were delighted to welcome Pipers alumnae back to the School for a University Choices Event, to share their own insight and experiences with our Sixth Form students. Our alumnae guests represented a variety of different universities and myriad subject areas including Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh University, Psychology at Loughborough, Interior Design at Falmouth, English Literature at Exeter, and many more spanning the UK from North to South.

It is so beneficial for our students to hear from alumnae who have been in the exact same position, and not that long ago. Amongst the alumnae was a student who, after studying at University during Covid, decided that the degree route wasn’t for them, and has carved out an incredibly exciting career path in Private Medicine Marketing. Understanding the breadth of opportunities available is vital to a happy and successful future beyond Pipers, and we take great pride in guiding our students on this journey.
