Each year, a number of Pipers staff challenge themselves to undertake fundraising activities. This year is no exception and we want to give parents the opportunity to support those staff who push themselves out of their comfort zones in aid of some incredible charities.

Madame Gagnon | Head Pre-Prep and Prep French and Year 11 Tutor. In April 2019, Madame Gagnon embarked on a remarkable journey to prove that with determination, anything is achievable. Her running journey didn't start with marathons; instead, it began with weekly parkruns. When the lockdowns hit, she gradually increased her mileage.

Since the end of the lockdowns, Madame Gagnon has achieved an astonishing feat by running three marathons in Paris, Brighton and Belfast. However, there has always been one dream on her mind - running the London Marathon. Beyond personal accomplishment, Madame Gagnon saw this as a great opportunity to support a charity she deeply cares about, MACS (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and Coloboma Support). She chose a charity with less exposure, where her support could truly make a difference.

On April 21, 2024, Madame Gagnon will be taking on the London Marathon to raise funds for MACS. If you would like to support her in this incredible journey, you can visit her fundraising page here.

Mr Craven | Teacher of Geography and Year 11 Tutor. Turning 50 is a milestone for anyone and Mr Craven is marking this occasion in an extraordinary way. He's taking on the Chiltern-50, a gruelling 50km ultra-marathon, to raise money in support of Cancer Research. This isn't his first attempt; he was unable to participate last year due to illness, making this year's endeavour even more meaningful.

Mr Delbrooke-Jones | Librarian and Year 13 Tutor. On October 21, Mr Delbrooke-Jones, along with a small yet intrepid group, will embark on a challenging mission to run the full Isle of Wight coastal path spanning 106km in just 24 hours. Their aim is to support The Talent Tap, a remarkable social mobility charity that collaborates with schools and colleges to inspire ambitious 16-18-year-old students, particularly those in Year 12 and beyond. The charity's mission is to match these students with prestigious and motivating employers, opening up a world of opportunities.

If you'd like to support Mr Delbrooke-Jones and his team directly, their fundraiser link can be found here.

Our Pipers staff are not only dedicated educators but also great role models. We are confident that they will deeply appreciate any support you can offer in their noble endeavours. These fundraising activities not only showcase their determination but also highlight the importance of giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the world. Let's come together as a community to support these incredible individuals and the charities they are championing.
