Girls in Pre-Prep have been putting their historical enquiry skills to the test this week as they asked themselves “How do we find out about toys and games from the past?”

The first activity in class required the girls to think about their own favourite toy, then use adjectives to describe it and express why it is important to them. They were also tasked with drawing a picture of their toy in their workbooks.

For the next activity the girls had to sort a set of toys into groups of “old” and “new”, considering what it was about the toy that meant they could say it was “old” or “new”.

The lesson served as a really useful and fun introduction to historical sources, and the concepts of old and new. It also encouraged the girls to think about the changes in their own lives and those of their families and others around them.
