Sport Trips

During the Easter holidays Pipers Corner swimming and netball teams took part in a sports tour in Cyprus. The weather was beautiful and the girls were able to take part in a tour of the island on the first day which took in Aphrodite’s Rock, St Paul’s Pillars and Paphos centre, the Troodos Mountains and an old monastery.

On the second day the sport started in earnest with the netball players having their first short ball handling session in the morning, and the swimmers their first swimming gala in the afternoon .  Many of the swimming team were experiencing a 50m Olympic size pool for the very first time! The outdoor facility was set right next to the beach and all the girls performed fantastically, against the Club team with swimmers of all ages.

Training took place around the matches and galas and all the girls worked very hard.

Both sports teams took on multiple opposition teams throughout the tour, with the U15 netballers even offered the opportunity to play against an experienced ladies team as well as girls from other schools. The netballing highlight was the U15 team beating the Hemel Hempstead team 28-16.

The swimming squad did equally as well against British school and Greek Youth teams and all the girls involved in both the netball and swimming teams trained, played and swam extremely well. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to the staff that made the tour possible.
