On Tuesday 11 June girls from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in an area Primary Schools Swimming Gala at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe. There were five teams in total competing in the gala and the other schools each brought both a girls' and a boys' team to compete. The Pipers’ Year 5 team entered into the “boys” event.

With 28 races in total and each competitor ranked one to four according to their ability the gala was off to a good start with all the number one boys swimming against each other, then number one girls and all the other abilities followed. Each competitor also swam an individual race of back stroke, breaststroke and front crawl and finally a boys' and girls' medley relay and freestyle relay to finish the competition.

We are very proud to announce that Pipers Corner won 23 out of the 28 races and came second in the other five. This means the girls took first place overall and have qualified for the Bucks School Games Championships, being held on Thursday 20 June at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

Huge congratulations go to the Year 6 team of Phebe H-S (Capt), Louise H, Katie T and Martha B and the Year 5 team of Rowen S (Capt), Phoebe H, Grace-Mary F and Lily H.
