Prep Academic

As students progress to Key Stage 2 they enjoy an increasingly varied range of subjects, with more lessons taught by subject specialists.

They also venture into the Senior School for certain subjects, getting to use the practical facilities such as the Science Lab, Art Studio or ICT suite. 

Prep Curriculum

The key learning areas and fundamental skills of core subjects are reinforced throughout the curriculum, as new ideas are introduced to expand students’ knowledge base.

In addition to Maths, English and Science, the Prep timetable includes:

Prep isn’t separate or tucked away but has the prime spot in the centre of the school, with the pupils getting use of the swimming pool, theatre and sports hall – facilities they wouldn’t always get in a standalone Prep. Students are taught 40 lessons each week in small classes, ensuring everyone gets the chance to ask questions. In Year 6, Maths and English are taught in sets, according to ability and experience.

With passionate and engaging teachers, our students become curious and excited to learn. Striking a balance between independent learning and group work, staff introduce problem-solving tasks and fun games to keep lessons stimulating. 

Small class sizes allow everyone to contribute and allows teachers to cater their lessons based on individual needs, to support and stretch students as needed. The positive learning environment allows everyone to flourish, with plenty of encouragement from staff as well as fellow students.
