Our two Young Enterprise teams ‘Grounded’ and ‘Hive it your Way’, having been working hard and competed in two Regional online competitions, ‘Pitch to the Panel’ and ‘Business Plan’.

Pitch to the Panel Event

Building on their success at the Local Dragon’s Den event, the teams applied the valuable feedback they received from the Dragons in preparation for the Regional Pitch to the Panel. This event, held online, featured 30 student companies from across nine counties. The teams were evaluated on their professionalism, teamwork, presentation and innovation, with an overall score determined based on these criteria.

Hive it Your Way

Scoring full marks in both the teamwork and innovation categories, to achieve an overall score of 36/40, Hive it Your Way were the overall Runners Up for the competition.

The judges commented: “The team demonstrated great professionalism and in-depth knowledge of their product and niche. The innovative solution addressing waste from disposable wrapping paper was impressive and the idea of sourcing wax from local businesses added a creative touch. Teamwork shone through, especially when discussing production and resource management. The spoken presentation was clear, detailed and well-delivered.”

Grounded

Scoring highly for their professionalism, teamwork and innovation. Grounded were commended for their “resilience, clearly defined roles for each member making their teamwork evident and a creative and impressive marketing approach added a unique edge to their offering.”

Business Plan Competition 

Each team developed a comprehensive business plan that included their company mission, market research, marketing strategy, production plans and financial projections, providing a solid foundation for their companies and outlining the next steps for growth. The teams were evaluated on their Business idea and Creativity, Plan and Presentation, Financial Plan and Impact and Strategy, with an overall score determined based on these criteria.

Hive it Your Way

Scoring highly in all categories, with a particular strength being their Business idea and Strategy the team were commended for their ‘Clear brand identity and sustainability mission. Interactive sales strategies and strong market positioning with gifting appeal. Placing third overall in the Young Enterprise Regional Business Plan Competition 2025.

Grounded

Scoring highly for their Business Idea and Creativity and Plan and Presentation; Grounded were commended for their Terrariums with a sustainability and mindfulness focus. Good branding, appealing to wellness and home décor trends. Defined pricing strategy. They were awarded the Best Business Idea and Creativity Best Award in the Young Enterprise Regional Business Plan Competition 2025.
