We were delighted to have children’s author, naturalist and eco-journalist, Sarah Robert, in School yesterday afternoon. Her first stop was Pre-Prep where the girls thoroughly enjoyed listening to Sarah read her first book ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. She then showed them a video of some of the wild adventures she’s had around the world and talked to them about the books important message of how plastic affects our oceans. This helped inspire the students to make jellyfish out of yoghurt pots and recycled paper.

Sarah then spent time with #PipersPrep talking about the history of plastic, why it is a problem for many species and what we can do to help. The students were keen to participate and share their thoughts and ideas.

At the end of the day we welcomed families into school who joined us for fruit smoothies and cookies, before attending a storytelling session with Sarah who treated them to two of her acclaimed books, both of which had the girls – and parents - captivated. They then headed into our beautiful woodland for some forest school activities which included fire lighting, making willow crowns and Hapa-Zome - a Japanese way of leaf-dying by hammering leaves and flowers between fabric. The afternoon concluded with a well-earned picnic on the terrace lawn.
