Year 6 | Shrek The Musical Jr. Rehearsals Reach a Crescendo

Excitement and anticipation are running high at School this week as Year 6 students immerse themselves in the final rehearsal of Shrek The Musical Jr. For the entire week, these talented individuals have donned their Shrek production t-shirts, dedicating themselves to perfecting their performances in what will be, for many, their first taste of a "professional" production. With opening night just around the corner, we spoke to some of the students to capture their thoughts.

Nervousness and excitement were the prevailing emotions - the atmosphere backstage was brimming with energy and a sense of camaraderie. The off-timetable week has allowed Year 6 students to focus solely on the musical. Countless hours of practice, memorising lines, perfecting choreography and bringing beloved characters to life has allowed their passion to shine through.

These wonderful end-of-year productions, directed by Head of Prep Drama Ms Bevan are not only an opportunity for these young performers to showcase their talent, but also a platform for personal growth and self-discovery. It allows them to step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and develop teamwork and collaboration skills. The experience teaches them about discipline, perseverance, and the rewards of hard work.

We can’t wait to see the see their first performance on Friday 23 June.
