Year 5 Showcase: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

In their Drama lessons, our Year 5 students have enthusiastically embraced the world of William Shakespeare, culminating in an abridged performance of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ to friends and family in a special theatrical showcase.

On researching the life and works of Shakespeare, they delved into the themes and style of different plays, including developing and exploring the witches scene from Act 1 Scene 1 of Macbeth, both in the traditional format and then modernising the same scene. Some students even took the opportunity to further their knowledge and independent learning skills by going to Stratford upon Avon and the Globe Theatre.

We are proud of their confident performance of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’, highlighting the magic and humour of this well-loved play, in a clear and engaging manner. You can see more pictures from the rehearsals in the Flickr album below.
