We are so proud of our Prep Gardening Club who recently had their Bug Barrel Exhibit displayed at Hampton Court Palace.

After taking great time to draw plans, create plant lists and detail their motivation for their application back in January, the group were delighted in March to find out that they were successful and joined the elite few invited to create the exhibit.

The students started planting seeds for marigolds and nasturtiums which were the stalwarts of their design, including flowers of fiery colours that are edible and good for bees. They called the design ‘Space Bug’, and with help from the wonderful Art Department, they created alien bug houses and planters out of clay, which were decorated, glazed and fired to make them strong enough for outdoors.

On the Sunday, the piece of work was transferred to Hampton Court for the students to see on Monday 1 July for a special visit. The team were thrilled to be VIPs on press day, rubbed shoulders with the stars and were able to look around the whole show as well as interact with the forest school and bees there.

It was a great finish to six months of hard work. You can see pictures from Hampton Court below.
