Jump Champions

On Saturday 26 April the Pipers Corner Equestrian Team headed to Bury Farm Equestrian Village to compete in the National County Challenge Championships.

There were 22 teams from 22 counties from all over the UK taking part in the competition. This included teams from as far afield as North Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, North Wales, Somerset, Wiltshire, Staffordshire and West Sussex. Each team had to qualify for the Nationals by winning their County Challenge competition, something which Pipers Corner did at Bury Farm in January of this year.

Every rider in the competition had to jump two rounds, first in the outdoor arena and then in the International indoor arena. The team from Pipers Corner finished on a fantastic total of 0 and being the second team to jump they had to wait for nearly four hours until the end of the competition to hear the results. Pipers Corner were eventually awarded the position of Reserve Champions, coming second overall out of the 22 teams competing.

Olivia S (Year 5) had also qualified to compete as an individual in the Championships and she finished in 7th place out of the 31 riders in the competition which was a fantastic result.

Mrs McGonigle, PE Teacher said “All of the girls rode very well and should be extremely proud of their amazing achievement. They all received sponsors rugs, the Reserve Champion sashes, rosettes and a medal. It was a fantastic day and huge congratulations should go to the team. I couldn’t be more proud.”
