Pre-Prep

Last week 10 eggs were delivered to the Pre-Prep Department, along with an incubator, brooder, chick food and sawdust. The girls all eagerly waited for the eggs to hatch, which one by one they did and within a few days all 10 eggs hatched.

It is a wonderful experience for the girls as they were able to watch the chicks force their way out of the eggs and into the world. They have been able to learn how the chicks have developed within a week and have really enjoyed watching them grow, work out how to walk and become very noisy.

All the girls had the opportunity to hold the chicks and the Reception class were able to measure and weigh the chicks as part of their maths lessons.

Mrs Child, Reception class teacher said “It is always such a great time of year when the eggs come to Pre-Prep. It is a wonderful way for the girls to learn first-hand about how chicks develop and learn about their life span.”
