Pre-Prep Chicks

Following the Easter break girls in Pre-Prep have been learning about Spring and celebrating new life, the culmination of which was the arrival of newly-hatched chicks to the Department. The girls spent lots of time caring for the tiny chicks and have watched their every move with excitement and fascination.

It was a wonderful experience for the girls as they were able to watch the chicks force their way out of the eggs and into the world. The girls followed the chicks’ whole development from when they first hatched to when they left Pre-Prep.

All the girls in the Department had the opportunity to hold the chicks, whilst the Reception class studied them more closely by measuring and weighing them as part of their Mathematics work.

Reception class teacher, Mrs Child, said “When the chicks come to Pre-Prep it is always wonderful to see how the girls react to them with a sense of awe and wonder. It gives the girls a great memory and hopefully will inspire them to find out more about nature.”
