Pre-Prep and Prep Drama

In their Drama lessons, girls in Year 6, have been learning how to create an original character. This has involved thinking about their voice and change of movement to reflect a different age and situation and also how important it is to have good staging and use their acting area effectively.

In addition they have been developing their script writing skills, producing a 2 – 3 minute duologue based on the stimulus “The Park Bench”. During the pieces the girls had to present a story where there would be intrigue, twists and a clear narrative between the two characters.

The girls produced a variety of scenarios including a policeman and a thief meeting just after a robbery, two people who had worked together in the past, a karate genius and a homeless man and two women who were once best friends at school and met after many years apart.

Head of Prep Drama, Ms Bevan said “The girls performed their pieces with confidence and clarity. They made sure their costume choices were appropriate to their chosen characters and it was great to see how each of them interpreted the scenario of the park bench.”
