Equestrian team excel

On Sunday 24 April, four girls in the Pipers Equestrian team competed in the National County Challenge Show Jumping Championships at Bury Farm Equestrian Village.

The team consisting of Phoebe H (Year 8) on Cloonlara Summertime, Ciara S (Year 10) on Jessica, Louise P (Year 10) on Inky and Olivia S (Year 7) on Bobby Sox, competed against 22 other schools from across the country who had won their respective county qualifying competitions.

The team rode extremely well and went all clear in the first round of the 90cm class, but finished on a total of eight faults after the second round which left them just out of the placings this year.

There was a notable performance from Ciara S who is to be congratulated on coming third nationally in the individual 1m Cortaflex County Show Jumping Championship.

Mrs McGonigle, PE Teacher and team co-ordinator said “The girls rode very well and I am extremely proud of their effort on Sunday. They work hard all year for these competitions and deserve congratulations for competing at such a high level.”
