History Year 11

As part of their current studies on World War II, our Year 11 Historians had a fascinating three-day visit to Munich and Nuremberg.

The short but interesting visit began in Munich, often known as 'Hauptstadt der Bewegung' - the Capital of the Movement, which gave our group the opportunity to see Munich’s Memorial to the Fallen of the Great War 'Hofgarten' as well as the National Socialist Documentation Centre, where they viewed a permanent exhibition, examining the topics of the origins and rise of National Socialism in Munich. After exploring Munich further on day two, they received a guided tour of Dachau, the first and longest serving Concentration Camp.

On the final day, Year 11 students explored a temporary exhibition of what remains of Nuremberg’s Nazi rally grounds and the venue of the war crimes trials after World War II. The Luitpoldhain Park and Garden served as a venue for commemoration of the Fallen of the Great War dead.

A hugely beneficial and thought-provoking trip was had. You can see pictures from the trip below.
