An evening of cabaret

This summer a group of girls from the Lower Sixth will be embarking on a trip of a lifetime to Ecuador, as part of a World Challenge educational expedition.  World Challenge is the leading provider of school expeditions around the globe, where young people can develop important life skills such as teamwork and leadership, confidence and self-esteem and also enhance their employment prospects and become more globally aware. 

During the expedition the girls will have the opportunity to trek through the foothills of the Andes, as well as the possibility of a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Their main focus, however, will be the chance to give back to the country by working on a community project that will help enrich the local area.

The World Challenge experience is not just about the expedition, prior to their departure the girls also need to do a great deal of planning, team building, fitness training and fundraising to ensure the project will go ahead smoothly.

As part of this, to raise funds for their upcoming expedition, girls in Lower Sixth organised a cabaret evening this week for parents, staff and Pipers girls.  Guests were treated to an evening of canapés, refreshments, quizzes and live music from a jazz band, pianists, singers and soloists, performance a selection of music from classical and pop to show tunes.

Other fundraising initiatives the girls have taken part in have included, stalls at the PPTA Christmas Fair selling sweets and they will be face painting at the Easter Egg Hunt later this term.

They are well on their way to reaching their target and are very much looking forward to embarking on a training expedition to Snowdonia National Park in April.
