Whole School Enrichment

With debating enrichment opportunities a plenty, we were proud to have Senior School student Tashvi M and Sixth Form students Martha F, Aminah J and Emily M represent the School in the first round of the English Speaking Union (ESU) National Debating Competition.

With Pipers playing host to Dr Challoner's High School, John Hampden Grammar School, Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, Wycombe Abbey and Chalfonts Independent Grammar, our student representatives demonstrated effective signposting (the practice of explicitly stating the main points of an argument before or after presenting them) and prioritising their points in the three debates, with each one chaired by Deputy Head Girl Emily M. The judges also agreed that the quality of debating from our students was high, earning them their place in the next round.

With Aminah J and Tashvi M speaking in the competition for the first time, this success acts as a huge boon for our student team and we look forward to seeing how they progress in the upcoming rounds.
