Pre-Prep girls went international on Friday 22 May when they held the annual Pre-Prep Department “International Day” to celebrate our diverse world. All the girls, along with their teachers, came to school dressed in a costume from another country representing five different continents.

The morning began with the famous Pre-Prep catwalk, where girls announced the country they represented, as they displayed their outfits to the rest of the year groups.

During the day there were a variety of activities and workshops on offer to the girls making a pom-pom koala pencil from Australia, hand printing Indian elephants from Sri Lanka and making an African animal mask.

At snack time the girls enjoyed a variety of foods from around the world including poppadums and tortilla. In the afternoon Mr Woodhall and Miss Whalen came and led an international music session involving real Indian instruments and an amazing African song with drumming which sounded very authentic.

The afternoon ended with a story from around the world. Mrs Rushforth, Head of Pre-Prep said, “International Day was, as always, a really fantastic event. It is a great way for the girls to find out more about the world and all the different cultures.”
