As part of a lovely Christmas story (and a yearly tradition for the family), we are so proud of Sophia W for her part in raising over £1000 for the Vitiligo Society as part of a Christmas Fundraiser.

At the age of seven, Sophia was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and has Vitiligo. As part of this year's Christmas Singing Awards Fundraiser on Saturday 14 December, Sophia has chosen to write and perform a song called ‘Possibilities’. She will also be bravely sharing what Vitiligo means to her.

A condition that can affect children and adults at any time in their lives, Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition that affects the skin, resulting in white patches and hair turning white. 20-35% of children and nearly 1% around the world are affected by this non-contagious condition and it can be difficult to hide, which can have a huge impact to a person's self-esteem and mental health. There is currently very little research to better understand Vitiligo and there is currently no known cure.

The Vitiligo Society is an independent charity whose mission is to 'beat vitiligo by eradicating the psychological, social and physical effects that vitiligo has on people’s lives, and by finding effective treatments and a cure'.

We are so proud of Sophia for wanting to inspire and educate about the condition whilst also raising money for charity. All seats are sold out for the event, but if you wish to donate towards the charity, you can do so here.
