On Wednesday 30 January, members of Year 6 travelled to the O2 to take part in Young Voices 2013.

This was the fifth trip to this annual event, where 7000 young voices come together from all over the UK to sing a selection of songs that had been prepared in mu

sic lessons.  Repertoire ranged this year from a catchy disco medley, to music by U2, Bruno Mars and One Direction.  After a two hour rehearsal, there was a moment to break before the concert began.

The girls were excited to learn that Connie Talbot from “Britain’s Got Talent” fame would be singing with them

in a rendition of “Let it Be”.  This was followed by the choir joining with the African National Children’s Choir to sing Gary Barlow’s hit “Sing”, recorded by The Pipers Young Voices Group last year.

The atmosphere was electric and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the phenomenal atmosphere that the sound generated as it reverberated around the arena.  Every seat was sold out and the audience responded enthusiastically to the dance moves they had to learn, including the Pipers Parents! Mrs Moss and Mr Woodhall also joined in the dance moves, much to the hilarity/admiration of all around them.

The group finally arrived back to Pipers close to midnight, exhausted, but full of music and memories.  Although the trip is a long day, the experience is one that the girls will never forget.  To stand and sing in unison with thousands of other voices is a simply unique experience that the girls will remember forever.
