The sun came out to celebrate the end of term at Pipers Corner as the whole school gathered together with parents and friends to enjoy the annual prize giving ceremony, complete with inspirational talks from speakers and a celebratory tea.

Head Girl, Annabel Hobden, gave a motivating speech, during which she addressed each year group and gave sound advice about how they could each fulfil their potential whilst at Pipers.  Including anecdotes from her time at the school she encouraged all the girls to “do something you enjoy” and talked about how being happy is one of the keys to success.

The presentation of certificates and prizes this year was by the first British woman to climb Everest and the Seven Summits, Rebecca Stephens MBE.  She came to Parents’ Day to speak about her experiences climbing the highest peaks and to give guidance to the girls.  Describing her adventure to the top of Everest she spoke of the vital importance of having key relationships with people and how those relationships can help you to achieve success.  She went on to say that whatever drives you to do well just “do it”, “go to bed knowing you’ve done your best”.  Very important words to inspire Pipers girls to continue their lives at school and beyond, at university and in their future careers.

After the prize giving the new Head Girl and Deputies for 2013/14 were announced.  Congratulations to Grace Grimsey (Head Girl), Martha McHugh, Hannah McLean and Katie Steel.

Headmistress, Mrs Helen Ness-Gifford, gave thanks to the girls, governors, parents and staff for an incredible year.  She spoke of the educational adventure that girls embark on at the school and how proud she was of the achievements of everyone.

She left the girls with one quote from Mark Twain “Explore, Dream, Discover” – a great sentiment for life.
