Whole School Pre-Prep and Prep

Prep spent the day creating wonderful Art for this year's Prep Art Day.The theme for the day was 'Botanical Bonanza' and all students from Years 3-6 were involved in a range of activities, working with specialist art teachers.

Years 3 and 4 created the elements for a cascading garden, including flowers and leaves of varying scale that were both sculpted and constructed in low relief. Students had the opportunity to work with clay, paint, oil pastel, and mixed media and they also explored paper sculpting. They also created individual clay bowls based on leaves.

Year 5 used Papier-mâché to create organic sculptures inspired by the work of Dale Chihuly. They also created a magical woodland of 'whomping willows' and toadstool houses, modelling in 3D and finishing surfaces with tissue paper and paint.

6KSp were based in the Art Studio with Mr Webber and developed intricate drypoint etchings on Perspex based on botanical imagery.

6SBe worked in the Sculpting Studio, designing and making fantastic flora inspired by the Hogwarts greenhouse and magical studies in Herbology. These giant flowers were modelled using found materials and modroc.

The work in progress will be shared with parents during the Prep Art Day Learning outcome scheduled to take place at the end of February. This provides an opportunity for students to share their art making experience with family and friends.

We can’t wait to see the finished work which will form part of the display at the end of year Summer Art Exhibition.
