Over the February half-term break a group of Pipers girls took to the slopes on this year’s Pipers ski trip to Folgaria, Italy. Upon arrival the girls were kitted out with skis, boots and helmets ready for the next morning’s lessons.

The girls were placed in ski groups according to their ability and all enjoyed the excellent lessons which enabled them to improve their technique and ability throughout the week. After a few graceful tumbles, the beginners were soon practicing their snow ploughs and the intermediates and advanced skiers hit the more difficult pistes straight away.

But the trip wasn’t all about skiing as the girls were also given the opportunity to take part in après ski activities such as ice-skating, bowling and swimming.

At the end of the trip awards and certificates were handed out to the girls for their effort throughout the week.  Some of the awards given out included:

  • Most progress – Ellen N (Year 8)
  • Most improved – Katie S (Year 9)
  • Most stylish skiers – Livy S (Year 11), Ruby B (Year 9), Pamela N (Year 11) and Alexa T (Year 9)

The last day brought sunshine and great snow conditions so the girls were able to ski a different mountain to end the holiday in style. After dinner everyone quickly packed up their belongings, boarded the coach and headed home to be reunited with families, but leaving with great memories of a fabulous ski holiday.

Miss Poore, Head of PE said, “It was a wonderful trip and all the girls had a fantastic time on and off the slopes. All the girls were really enthusiastic and keen to improve their skills whether they were beginners or advanced skiers. A big thank you to Miss Clifford, Mrs Page and Miss Coffey for helping to make this yet another really successful ski trip.”
