There were scenes of jubilation at Pipers today as Upper Sixth girls celebrated their A Levels results. 67% of all results at A Level were at grades A*- B and 60% of our girls achieved a top A* or A grade in at least one of their A Level subjects.

Among the top achievers this year were Head Girl, Grace Grimsey, and her Deputies, Martha McHugh and Katie Steel who between them achieved 8 A*/As and one B. Grace will now be heading off to Imperial College London to study Biomedicine, Martha will be studying Drama at Loughborough University and Katie is going to the University of Birmingham to study French and Spanish.

Other notable achievers include:

  • Gemma Ullyatt, who after achieving three A grades in Maths, Textiles and Physics will be going to the University of Exeter to study Maths with Finance.
  • Lucy Ilsley achieved an A* in Textiles and two A grades in Chemistry and Maths. She will be going to Bucks New University to study an Art Foundation course before heading to university next year.
  • Lauren Mead has accepted a place at the Birmingham School of Acting to study Drama after receiving three A grades in Drama and Theatre Studies, English Literature and Sociology.

Pipers' girls successfully gained places at some of the country’s most sought after universities including Imperial College London, Durham University, University of Warwick, University of York, University of Exeter, University of Birmingham and University of Surrey. They will be studying a diverse range of courses such as Economics, Forensic Science, Philosophy, English Literature, Theology, Fashion, History and International Business with Languages.

Headmistress, Mrs Helen Ness-Gifford said, “I am delighted that all our Upper Sixth girls have fulfilled their potential and gained places at their first choice of Higher Education institution. Every year I am extremely proud of the fact that we are able to offer such a rounded education in our Sixth Form which, as in previous years, is borne out in the breadth of subjects the girls are going on to study at a range of top universities and colleges all over the country. We are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate with our girls and their families today and wish them all well in the next stage of their education.”
