The girls in Year 3 enjoyed an interactive visit to Hazard Alley recently as part of their PSHE learning about “keeping safe”. Hazard Alley, otherwise known as the Safety Centre in Milton Keynes is a purpose-built centre where children can experience 12 hazardous scenarios in perfect safety.

As the girls arrived they were presented with a range of activities and were asked to identify the dangers and how they would deal with an accident. Moving between areas the girls also had to consider how to cross the road safely.

The scenarios consisted of a range of topics such as, rail and water safety, safety near a building site and road works, shoplifting and dangers at home. They were also introduced to first aid and how to put someone into the recovery position, along with what calling 999 would be like when reporting an emergency.

Mrs Emery, Year 3 teacher said “The girls took the scenarios very seriously and listened attentively to their instructors. I was very impressed by the way they were able to apply their learning from their lessons about road safety as they walked around the site.”
