The power of technology

In ICT this week Year 5 have been at the cutting edge of technology, creating green screen videos about space and coding their Lego Wedo space rovers! We are very impressed with the girls’ learning agility on what has been a challenging technical learning curve for them all.

The green screen allows the girls to photograph and video themselves in any chosen location - from jumping on trampolines to landing on the moon! Skills developed range from learning to use the App, sourcing images via Google, trimming videos and self-evaluation of their techniques.

At the same time the girls are building and coding Lego Wedo space rovers. Through use of code they are instructing the space rovers to move and react to their surroundings. Next session they will be installing a sensor allowing the rovers to react to signals. These are all fantastic skills which, over time, the students will be able to build on, in our world of rapidly developing technology.
