Year 8 pupil. and county level competitor, Katie T has recently enjoyed some fantastic sporting success in Cross-Country and Swimming. Following a shaky start to the season due to illness. Katie has bounced back with impressive finishes in a number of races and swims, an achievement she puts down to determination, perseverance and good preparation.

At the beginning of March Katie raced in the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships in Birmingham where she ran a solid race and came 59th out of 305 competitors, being a minute and a half behind the winner. She was also the first girl back for Buckinghamshire, which is a huge achievement for Katie.

Immediately after the race in Birmingham Katie headed to Maidenhead to compete in the Bucks County Swimming Championships. Despite her tired legs she achieved personal bests in her races and also secured a bronze medal in the 400 Individual Medley.

On Saturday 14 March Katie travelled to Blackburn to compete in the ESAA Cross Country Championships. Being quite far back at the start line Katie did really well with no panic and managed to finish a strong 140th out of 305 competitors. Once again she was the first girl over the line competing for Buckinghamshire.

Head of PE, Miss Poore said “This is a great achievement from Katie. She has done incredibly well in the last few weeks competing at such a high level. Her energy and dedication to the sports is wonderful to see. I hope her success continues while gaining valuable experience in the sporting world.”
