This term has seen many opportunities for the girls at Pipers Corner to demonstrate their musical talents. From the beginners in the Year 7 string performance in February to the most experienced musicians in the junior and senior informal concerts all the girls have relished the opportunity to share music making.

Their hard work and effort all came together towards the end of term when girls in Year 7 to Sixth Form presented a Spring Concert on Thursday 19 March. It was a wonderful evening of music encompassing a variety of genres from jazz to gospel, classical and even a Zulu chant.

With performances by girls from all music enrichment clubs the evening started with a bang with Chorale, Jazz Band and the guitarists singing and playing “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. This really had the audience buzzing right from the start. The musical talent did not stop there as other arrangements included Vocalease singing “Shoop Shoop”, Chamber Orchestra playing “Danse Macabre” and Chorale singing “Shackles (Praise You)” a traditional gospel song and a great way to end the festivities.

Director of Music, Mrs Henshall said “I am extremely proud of all the girls involved in the Spring Concert. They have worked really hard this term to make this concert happen and the evening was truly wonderful. With so many parents joining us it really made the girls’ efforts worthwhile.”
