This Term saw girls in Year 7 research and create a model of a Medieval castle. The girls had to craft a castle which was in the style of either a motte and bailey castle or a specific Medieval castle in England.

The girls have been working hard all term on this project and the finished results demonstrated an excellent knowledge of a range of types of castle. It was very clear to see the girls’ creativity and imagination with castles made out of cake, cardboard and papier-mâché. The whole school was then invited to come and view the castles and vote on which one was their favourite.

The winners were:

  • First - Sofia M (concentric castle design)
  • Runners up - Charlotte A (White Tower), Amelia H (chocolate cake castle), Leanne H (Beaumaris Castle)

Head of History, Mrs Tinnelly said “The standard of castle design this year was amazing. I was very impressed with the girls’ ability to research a castle and design a fantastic replica using interesting techniques and with great enthusiasm. It was a really tough decision to choose a winner as they were all excellent.”
