Academic Sixth Form

Yet again this summer has seen exceptional results at Pipers Corner School. Much has been said about how the grades for the past two years have been awarded - but at Pipers the consistency in the results achieved over several years has yet again proved to be a remarkable testament to the worth ethic of the students and the high expectations of their teachers.

For the sixth year in row the school has had 100% pass rate - with around half of all A Level grades achieving A or A*s since 2018. With 20 subjects studied each year by four different cohorts, these results reflect a remarkably consistent achievement by students - in a school where the pandemic clearly made little impact on academic progress.

The Headmistress, Mrs Ness-Gifford commented, "I am so proud of our students’ hard-work throughout these challenging last two years, but also of their continuing commitment to developing skills beyond the curriculum.  The fact that almost all of them will be moving on to study at their first choice universities reflects achievements way beyond today’s outstanding examination results and I could not be more excited to see what they go on to achieve.

Notable achievements include 3 students who achieved top A* grades in all of their A Levels;  Art Scholar, Isabelle Warren, will be continuing her studies with a degree in Fine Art and Art History, Academic Scholar, Ella Lewis, will be off to the University of York and Sports Scholar Merryn Sutaria’s next step is a degree at Exeter University.

Former Pipers Deputy Head Girl, Chloe Hall, has been awarded a place at Oxford University where she will study Theology and Religion (a keen performer, Chloe’s last performance at Pipers was in the lead role in “Sister Act” where she took on the role of a nun) whilst this year’s Deputy Head Girl, Sofia Mclellan and Head Girl, Maddie Ingleton, both key members of the Pipers Radio team, will be heading off to degree courses at the Universities of Loughborough and Southampton.

In a year group where over 80% of students achieved at least one A/A* grade - but where successful applications to university depend as much on what you have achieved out of the classroom -  it is not surprising that Pipers Corner students have met with considerable success in their university applications and are now looking forward to studying a wide range of subjects, from Mechanical Engineering and Marine Biology to Nursing and Teaching, at top universities all over the country including Edinburgh, Exeter, St Andrews, Liverpool and Nottingham, as well as specialist institutions such as the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
