Nia F (Year 12) was nominated for and took home the prestigious Outstanding Contribution Award as part of the National Citizen’s Service, a flagship Government initiative aimed at 16-17 year olds, which offered young people the chance to take part in a bespoke programme that is challenging, fun and develops skills and confidence.

Nia completed the NCS scheme during the summer, after learning about it through the incredible Individual Learning team at Pipers. The recognition she received took place at the Graduation event, hosted by Action4Youth at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre last week, where she received this award from the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Countess Howe.

Nia was absolutely delighted to meet the 2012 Paralympic Gold medallist, Naomi Riches MBE who was the guest speaker for the evening. Naomi, also registered blind, was so generous with her time and chatted with Nia, showing her gold medal and explaining the tactile features and braille on it.

We are so incredibly proud of Nia, who continues to add to the awards she has won, not only within School, but from her commitment to extra-curricular activities.
