There was no stopping our students throughout the half-term break as groups travelled far and wide to partake in various activities across Europe.

Our adventurous Year 10s took a fascinating weekend trip to Wales to participate in the finals of the National Food, Farming & Natural Environment Competition. After their experiences on the farm, Team Pipers used their wider research to put together a well thought out presentation which crowned our Year 10s winners of the national competition. A huge congratulations to our students for working so brilliantly.

The travelling didn't stop there as our Years 10 and 11 language enthusiasts went to Catalonia to experience Spanish food, culture and of course practice their language speaking skills. A great time was had by all as they made their way to Barcelona to visit the old part of the city, to see the Gothic Quarter, Jewish Quarter and Gaudi’s Casa Batllo and Casa Mila.

Half-term October 2022

Art and Textiles Sixth Form students enjoyed their fill of Italian culture as they boosted their sketchbook skills on a visit to Florence. They had a busy time finding inspiration and sketching at the Academia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery, Marino Marini Gallery, Pitti Palace, Prato Textiles Museum and Pisa. They took in the sights at the medieval walled town San Gimignano and enjoyed a well-deserved break.

Year 11 Historians had History brought to life for them as the explored the wonders of Berlin, visiting a variety of sites relating to the students' study of Nazi Germany and the Cold War. They took part in a fascinating a walking tour of Berlin, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust memorial, followed by an in-depth look at the concentration camp at Sachsenhausen. There was also an opportunity to observe the propaganda spectacle of the Berlin Olympic Stadium built for the 1936 Olympic Games. The students later visited the interactive DDR Museum for a glimpse of life behind the Iron Curtain, the Stasi Prison and sections of the Berlin Wall.
