It was World Book Day on Thursday 5 March and girls in Pre-Prep and Prep celebrated their love of books by dressing up as their favourite literary character.

There were lots of exciting characters to see including Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Captain Hook from “Peter Pan”, Winnie the Pooh and a number of Harry Potters. All the girls did a fantastic job with their costumes and they looked amazing.

Mrs Rees, Head of Research-Based Learning, organised the Pipers Big Book Swap in the Library where Senior girls brought in one of their favourite books, attached a brief review and swapped it for another book. It was a wonderful way for the girls to be introduced to a range of exciting new books and authors. This year the Book Swap was also run in the Prep Department, which meant that our eager younger readers also had the opportunity to exchange one of their own well-read books for another.

Mrs Ness-Gifford, Headmistress said, “It was delightful to see the varied and wonderful costumes the Pre-Prep and Prep girls wore for World Book Day, they all looked fantastic. It is always a joy to see the girls interested and excited by reading and events like World Book Day are a great way to recognise this.”
