Students are celebrating yet another year of outstanding GCSE results today at Pipers Corner.

In spite of the time spent at home due to the pandemic and the uncertainty over whether examinations would take place this year - results across the 22 subjects taken have seen over two thirds of all grades achieve the top 9-7 grades (A**, A* and A).

Notably outstanding successes include History where 67% of grades achieved the very top grade 9 with 95 % of students in the group achieving 7-9. In Art 100% of results achieved grades 7-9 and in Drama, Geography and Textiles well over 80% of results achieved these very top grades.

In the core subjects, taken by every student in the year - over 85% of grades in English achieved grades 7-9 and over half of all grades across in both Science and Maths achieved grades 7-9.

Special recognition goes to Chloe J, Zoe P and Isabella P for their clean sweep of grade 9s across every single one of their subjects - though they are joined by Emilia B, Chloe D, Amber D and Sophia H in securing at least 7 or 8 grade 9s across their subjects (the Exams watchdog, Ofqual, says that grade 9s “identify exceptional performance"). In addition, a quarter of the year group achieved all 7-9s in their examinations this year ( straight A**s to As.).

Headmistress, Helen Ness-Gifford, said: These results represent considerable achievement, not just for those with these very highest grades, but for those other students who have experienced a challenging year and yet have still achieved superb results. I am incredibly proud of this whole year group who were busy enjoying Year 9 when the pandemic changed their educational journey so suddenly; their resilience has been impressive.
This final year of GCSEs has been marked by their appreciation of being back together again and by their determination to take every opportunity that comes their way both within and beyond the curriculum. I am grateful to their teachers and their parents for their wonderful support and we now look forward to seeing what they can achieve at A Level and as leaders at the top of the school."
